The two professional Munich football clubs FC Bayern München and TSV 1860 München have played their home games at Allianz Arena since the start of the 2005/06 season. Stadium History
On October 21, 2002 voters went to the polls to determine whether a new stadium should be built in this location and whether the city of Munich should provide the necessary infrastructure. About two thirds of the voters decided in favor of the proposition. Construction started in the fall of 2002 and was completed by the end of April 2005. On May 30, 2005, TSV 1860 München played an exhibition game against 1. FC Nürnberg. The next day Bayern Munich played a game against the German national team. Both games had been sold out since early March 2005. Patrick Milchraum of TSV 1860 scored the first official goal at the stadium.

Travel Tips
Munich is proud of its efficient and very modern public transportation system. It is "integrated", which means that with one ticket you may travel with - and freely transfer between - bus, streetcar, U-Bahn, and S-Bahn. The U-Bahn is the Underground subway and runs approximately 60 kilometers through the city. S-Bahn and U-Bahn intersect at Hauptbahnhof and Marienplatz. The public transportation system operates from about 5:00 in the morning to about 1:00 at night. It is not difficult to get around Munich with public transportation, and in bus and streetcar one can experience authentic Munich "life". Slightly complicated is the ticket system. Munich's transportation system is to a large extent automated. This means you must buy and cancel the tickets by yourself.
