Stadium Overview

Estadio Jalisco was built in 1956 as a stadium for Club United Jalisco AC (CUJ), then shared by clubs Atlas, CD Guadalajara and Oro.

Stadium History

Estadio Jalisco construction began in July 1958 and the stadium opened on January 24, 1960 when it opened formally, receiving the blessing of His Excellency. Cardinal José Garibi Rivera.

The pentagonal West Tournament was the first official tournament was played in Jalisco, in which teams of the Atlas, Guadalajara, Oro, San Lorenzo de Almagro (Argentina) and Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Among the changes that have taken place in the Estadio Jalisco is expanding to a second floor (area "B" and "C"), this was to host the world Mexico 70. To FIFA World Cup Mexico 1986, there was a general remodeling of the technical team. For 1999, the Jalisco experienced a new refurbishment to host the FIFA Confederations Cup Mexico 99, was completely redesigned the area of dressing and the common area.
