Club Overview

Östers IF is based in Växjö, Sweden and currently plays at the third level of Swedish club football. This is, however, far from the normal state for the club that previous to the relegation in 2007 hadn't been out of the two highest leagues for half a century.

As late as 2006 the club played at the highest level in Sweden.

Club History

Founded in 1930, the club enjoyed a fairly rapid rise to the top of Swedish club football. Having never experienced relegation the club secured its first Swedish Championship in 1968 as newly-promoted to the highest division. Three more titles followed in 1978, 1980 and 1981. The club's only Swedish Cup title to date was won in 1977.

Club Rivalries

Main local rivalry with Kalmar FF, some historic rivalries with Malmö FF and IFK Göteborg.
