The Swiss national team (Schweizer Nati) led by captain Alexander Frei is competing in group A of the Euro 2008 and hosting the football competition. The main stars on squad are defenseman Philippe Senderos and goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler. The national team was formed in 1895 and became a member of FIFA in 1904.The team won it’s first game against France by a score of 1-0 in Paris. The team’s best results on the world stage came in 1934,1938 1954 when it reached the quaterfinals of the World Cup. The Swiss national teams plays out of Stade de Suisse, a football stadium located in Bern, Switzerland. The Swiss football legend Kubilay Turkilmaz holds the record for the highest amount of goals ever scored by a member of the national team, with 35.
