Champions League 2008-2009

The UEFA Champions League™ is a club football competition that runs simultaneously with domestic league Champions Leagues in UEFA member countries. The Champions League is an annual professional football tournament that starts in August of 2008 and ends in May of 2009. There are two confederations that have a champions league, and the UEFA Champions League is for European clubs and is hosted by UEFA. The soccer tournament is considered to be the most competitive club competition in world football, featuring Europe's most prominent and popular teams and players. The Champions League format consists of several stages including the three qualifying knockout rounds, a group stage, and a final knockout round. The 2009 Champions League culminates at the final match in May 2009 at Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy. Champions League match tickets and hotels in this beautiful city will be in high demand as football fans from around the world aspire to see who will be crowned the best club in Europe this season. Will Manchester United or Chelsea remain on top? Or will Liverpool finally break through to the final?

Champions League Legends - Real Madrid

Despite the fact that they haven’t won the Champions League since 2002, Real Madrid are UEFA Champions League stalwarts. Madrid has won the cup a record 9 times, including three times between 1997 and 2002, and an amazing 5 consecutive times from 1955-60. Their other win was in 1966, and they have lost three finals 0 in 1962, 1964 and 1981. Interestingly, of the top 5 record goal scorers in the Champions League, the top two are currently playing for Real Madrid (Raul and Ruud van Nistelrooy). The 4th place goal scorer was Alfredo di Stefano, a Los Merengues legend, who was instrumental in their 5 consecutive European Cup wins.
