Salzburg Stadium Overview

Salzburg Stadium is located in Wals-Siezenheim, just outside the city of Salzburg, Austria. The stadium is the home of Red Bull Salzburg FC. It is also commonly known as the "Bullen Arena". It was expanded to 30,000 seats in order to host the Euro-2008.

Wals-Siezenhiem Stadion is the only stadium in the Austrian Bundesliga that has artificial turf.

The EM Salzburg Stadium is located right next to Salzburg airport, has a direct link to the motorway and is due have its own stop on the Salzburg-Munich railway line. Around the vicinity there is fully-fledged recreational park, with a variety of leisure facilities such as fitness trails, recreation zones, playgrounds, restaurants.

City Information

Salzburg is a historic old city with prehistoric discoveries dating back to the Neolithic age. It also has a strong musical history. Mozart was born here and the Sound of Music was filmed here.

Mozart was born in Salzburg and spent his early years here. His apartment, where he grew up, is now a museum in his honor. Some of his first violins, first piano and some sheet music are on display at this museum.

The Sound of Music was filmed in Salzburg in 1964. It was a huge success with numerous Oscar nominations, 6 Tony awards and millions of albums sold. It helped show what a great musical city Salzburg was. In addition to creating a great musical, this city celebrates music every year with a music festival, 180 concerts perform in 11 different venues around the city for 38 days.

Salzburg will be a host city for the UEFA European Football Championship in June 2008. Stadion Salzburg Wals-Siezenheim is a newly remodeled venue that will host 3 matches. The area surrounding the stadium has been upgraded to include fitness trails, a recreation area, playgrounds and restaurants.

Travel Tips

Rail:
Salzburg has an extensive rail road system with trains often departing to and arriving from Vienna, Munich, Innsbruck, and Zürich, and includes daily high-speed ICE services. The city's railroad stations also act as a hub for trains coming from the southern Alps and going into Italy.

Airport:
Salzburg Airport has scheduled flights to European cities such as Frankfurt, Vienna, London, Amsterdam and Zürich, as well as Dublin and Charleroi.

Bus:
The main city has a network of trolleybuses and buses with over 20 lines, and service every 10 minutes. Salzburg's S-Bahn (subway) system has four different Lines (S1, S2, S3, S11) that stop at Salzburg Stadium. Trains leave from the main Hauptbanhoff station about every 30 minutes.
